JUPITER, FL – May 3, 2018 – The Historic Jupiter School, established in 1927, has long since been a landmark for the Jupiter community. Recently, there have been discussions amongst the staff at Jupiter Elementary School to restore the Historic School’s auditorium, which hasn’t been used since 2002 and open it up for academic and community use. Spearheading this initiative are Principal Patricia Trejo and data processor Paola Ardila-Riley of the elementary school. With a team of 30 Jupiter community volunteers, Trejo and Ardila-Riley hope to raise $2 million towards the restoration of the auditorium through donations and the auctioning off of nameplates for the new building.

When asked what her vision is for the old auditorium, Principal Trejo says, “We are hoping that it can bring the community together and give them a venue for families. We’d love to be able to lease it to the community.” In terms of academics, Trejo wants to reopen the auditorium for subjects such as music and debate, as well as school events such as fifth grade graduation days and field day awards. Since the project is in its early stages no definite timeline for completion has been established.
