PUPPIES RESCUED FROM PANHANDLE HURRICANE BY PALM BEACH COUNTY FIREFIGHTERS WILL BE ADOPTED BY TWO PALM BEACH COUNTY FIREFIGHTER FAMILIES SATURDAY

WEST PALM BEACH, FL – Friday November 09, 2018 – When Hurricane Michael devastated the Florida Panhandle Palm Beach County Firefighters answered the call. Men and women from the department deployed across the region to aid in rescue and recovery efforts. Their work not only helped to save the lives of local residents, they also worked to rescue animals who were impacted by the disaster. One now famous rescue involved two black Labrador puppies who had been abandoned in poor health. The Firefighters recovered the dogs and Big Dog Ranch Rescue became their recovery facility. For weeks the pups were given medical attention, fed and nurtured, and brought back to optimum health. The two puppies, now 3 months old, are ready for their forever homes. The families who will adopt them Saturday, November 10th at 11 AM have a very special connection; they are the very firefighters who were deployed to Hurricane Michael.

Matthew and Kandi Schmitz are adopting "Hurricane", the female rescued from the storm while Jeff and Patty Boyd will take home "Michael", the male rescue. Big Dog Ranch Rescue Founder Lauree Simmons says it's the perfect match, "Firefighters are hero's to all of us and now even to the dogs who will now have a full life because they cared enough to save them from a desperate situation. Thank-you to our wonderful Palm Beach County Firefighters for using your lifesaving talents and hard work to save the people and the animals devastated by Hurricane Michael."
