WEST PALM BEACH, FL- (April 13, 2021) The West Palm Beach Center for Arts and Technology (WestPalmCAT) will host a virtual evening of jazz on Saturday, May 1, 2021. This highly anticipated performance will showcase an exciting mix of prerecorded live music by several of the great talents in South Florida with some favorite recordings from the vast archives of MCG Jazz out of Pittsburgh.

Nicole Henry, an award-winning jazz singer and resident of West Palm Beach, will serve as the evening’s MC, in addition to performing several songs in the virtual concert.

Also woven into the mix will be inspiring remarks by Bill Strickland, founder of the Manchester Bidwell Center for Pittsburgh, the model for the WestPalmCAT, as well as a video clip featuring the transformative work of the WestPalmCAT. This promises to be an unforgettable evening, as we celebrate the promise of this new Center in the heart of the historic Northwest District of West Palm Beach.

Bruce Lewis and Darryl Bey are co-chairs of this complimentary virtual event brought to you by the WestPalmCAT along with the West Palm Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA).

Sponsors to date include: Cooper Construction, Elizabeth and David Wetherell (Presenting Sponsors), FPL, Comcast, Stellar Marketing & Business Solutions, SunFest, The Ben Hotel, The Palm Beaches, and the CRA.

The virtual event will begin at 7:00 p.m. on May 1, 2021. To register for the free event, visit wpbcat.org/evening-of-jazz/. For sponsorship opportunities email PJ Layng at pj@pjlassociates.com or call 561-632-8122.

About West Palm Beach Center for Arts and Technology:

Established in 2018, and under the board leadership of former mayor, Jeri Muoio, the West Palm Beach Center for Arts and Technology offers arts education to historically underserved high school youth and targeted job training, support and employment services to prepare unemployed and underemployed adults to obtain and retain living-wage local jobs. The WestPalmCAT is modeled after Pittsburgh’s Manchester Bidwell Center, founded by entrepreneur and McArthur Genius Award winner Bill Strickland. Since 1968, the Center has developed successful strategies to address low educational achievement among youth and high unemployment rates among adults. To learn more visit wpbcat.org.
