Parks and Recreation Department wins International Marketing Award

Parks and Recreation Department wins International Marketing Award

JUPITER, FL – December 4, 2017 – The Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department was selected by the Learning Resources Network (LERN) as the winner of the International Award for Excellence in the Marketing category for its Prescription for Healthy, Happy Living campaign. The award recognizes best practices in marketing and particularly focuses on new techniques, marketing strategies, or innovations that have a demonstrated impact (or high potential for impact) on revenue/enrollment generation.

The objective of the campaign is to create a healthier, happier society by connecting improved mental and physical wellbeing with a walk in the park. Marketing efforts were produced entirely in-house and include an animated video with original hand-drawn animation designed by a student intern and a coloring booklet with information about the video. Employees fluent in Spanish and Creole provided the voiceover for alternate language versions. The campaign helped kick off the department’s park prescription program, where physicians prescribe outdoor activities such as walks in parks.

“Parks and Recreation services significantly contribute to the overall health and wellness of our community and I am extremely proud of our Public Engagement Team for the creative and innovative ways in which they deliver this message to the public,” said Parks and Recreation Director Eric Call. “Winning this prominent award is another illustration of why Palm Beach County has the best of everything!”

The award was presented during LERN’s 2017 Annual Conference in Portland, OR.

LERN is the world’s largest association in continuing education and lifelong learning, offering information and consulting expertise to providers of continuing education and customized training.

The Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department, recognized as the best in Florida and tops in the nation, operates more than 110 parks and recreational facilities and provides organized recreational programs and services for people of all ages and abilities.
