Honoring the Late Burt Reynolds in Jupiter

JUPITER, FL – May 7, 2019 – Andrew Kato is the Artistic Director and Chief Executive of the Maltz Jupiter Theatre. He has had a love affair with the theatre for as long as he can remember and was once even a waiter there when it was previously named the old Burt Reynolds Dinner Theatre.

Kato graduated in Theatre from Florida State University after which he moved to New York City where like many talented theatre lovers, he worked on Broadway. He was most notably recognized for his 13 years as Coordinating Producer on The Tony Awards.

In 2005, he was drawn back to Jupiter and found himself at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre once again.

Like many Jupiter residents, it is important to Andrew Kato to make sure Burt’s legacy is solidified eternally in Jupiter. His idea to rename Indiantown Road to Burt Reynolds Boulevard was so impassioned he went to present it to the Mayor.

Kato feels by renaming the road, the residents of Jupiter are giving a hats off and a hand clap to a man who contributed so much to the region. Having the Maltz theatre on 1001 Burt Reynolds Boulevard will be the ultimate way to honor the legend and keep his spirit and love for Jupiter alive.

The Jupiter Town Council voted to advance with a ceremonial renaming of Indiantown Road to Burt Reynolds Boulevard between US-1 and A1A. There is currently no set date for that ceremony.
