Daggerwing Nature Center September 2018 Program Guide for Families

All programs are by reservation only, unless otherwise stated. Please call (561) 629-8760 or visit the nature center to make program reservations. Fees (if applicable) are due the day of the program by cash or check only. All participants are required to sign a Program Participation Form for every program. If you are more than 5 minutes late to a program for which you have made a reservation, your spot may be given to a person on the waiting list.

ANIMAL FEEDINGS

Daily, 3:15-3:30 p.m.

All ages, FREE (Reservations not required)

3:15 p.m. is feeding time! Listen to a short talk about one of Daggerwing’s resident animals and then watch while it’s fed.

Wednesday - Opossum; Thursday - Snake; Friday - Owl; Saturday - Alligator

MOTHER NATURE & ME: ANIMAL BUILDERS

Tuesday, September 4, 10:30 a.m.

Ages 2-5 (w/guardian), $4/child (Reservations required)

Get ready to jump and shout with Mother Nature through stories, live animals, activities, and a craft specifically designed for toddlers and preschoolers!

DAGGERWING VISITS THE LIBRARY: ALLIGATORS

Tuesday, September 11, 3:30 p.m.

Ages 5+, FREE (Reservations required)

Enjoy a special program about insects and spiders featuring a visit from some of the nature center’s resident animal ambassadors, at the West Boca Branch Library! Call the West Boca Branch Library for details and RSVP at (561) 470-1600.

TALKING ANIMALS

Saturday, September 15, 10:30 a.m.

Ages 5+, $3/person (Reservations required)

Join a naturalist with some of the nature center’s animal ambassadors for a fun and educational presentation about the different ways animals communicate. Discover the many ways animals communicate with each other and just how smart they really are!

MOTHER NATURE & ME: SNAKES

Tuesday, September 18, 10:30 a.m.

Ages 2-5 (w/guardian), $4/child (Reservations required)

Get ready to jump and shout with Mother Nature through stories, live animals, activities, and a craft specifically designed for toddlers and preschoolers!

FISHING FUN

Wednesday, September 19, 10:00 a.m.

Ages 8+, $10/participant (Reservations required)

Learn the basics of freshwater fishing and practice learned skills. Class includes: fishing pole basics, casting tips, and freshwater fish identification. All fishing supplies are provided. Please bring a water bottle, sun protection, and closed-toed shoes that can get wet/muddy.

BETTER BIRDING

Saturday, September 29, 10:30 a.m.

Ages 5+, $3/person (Reservations required)

Learn about the exciting hobby of bird watching. First, join a naturalist who will teach bird identification skills and proper use of binoculars and field guides. Then practice these new skills on the boardwalk during a guided birding adventure.
