Today (Tuesday) a plane from the devastated islands will arrive at Palm Beach International Airport. BDRR, as well as shelters from along the East Coast, will be on hand to receive the dogs.

Founder and President of BDRR, Lauree Simmons, says there is a collaborative effort to save the island's animals, "We all know how devastating a hurricane can be and it's important that we remember there are still people and pets still suffering from last years busy season. We are these animals only hope for survival until the affected areas can fully recover."

Chesney's home in St. Johns was destroyed. He told CNN 20 friends sought refuge there along with their dogs and said, “I had 200 mph wind-tested windows throughout my house, and every window in the house just blew out, so these people were really scared. They found more shelter in a big closet and were in that closet for a long time, and they made it."
