City of West Palm Beach Earns 18 SUNsational Awards

WEST PALM BEACH, FL – August 30, 2017 – The Florida Festivals & Events Association (FFEA) recently announced the winners of its annual SUNsational Awards during its 23rd annual convention and tradeshow. The program recognizes members' innovation, individuality and creative collaboration, and the City of West Palm Beach earned 18 awards for its signature and celebrated programming. The Community Event’s Division was awarded 14 awards for signature events including Clematis by Night, Sandi Land, Summer in Paradise and the GreenMarket. In addition, the City’s Community Redevelopment Agency’s received four awards for their outstanding events, including BBQ, Brews & Blues and Bourbon and Bowties.

Nominations were accepted in nine categories, including Printed Materials; Outdoor Advertisement; PR/Media Campaign; Photo; Promotional Item; T-shirt; Broadcast Media; Multimedia Marketing and Programming. Each category included three budget levels. Organizations submitted applications for a total of 130 events. 

“I am incredibly proud of the Department of Parks and Recreation’s Community Events Division and the CRA for all of their hard work to ensure that the City of West Palm Beach provides opportunity and entertainment for locals and tourists,” said Jeri Muoio, Mayor of the City of West Palm Beach. “The awards from the FFEA are truly a validation of our efforts, especially among strong local and statewide competition.”

Nominations were judged by a blue-ribbon panel representing media outlets, printing companies, website designers, photographers, promotional marketing professionals and social media experts. The City of West Palm Beach led Palm Beach County in the number of recognitions, with FFEA members in the County receiving 83 total awards; other local winners included the West Palm Beach DDA, Lion Country Safari and the South Florida Fair & Palm Beach County Expositions, Inc.

“The SUNsational Awards have recognized and celebrated the talents of our members for more than two decades,” said Suzanne Neve, Executive Director of the FFEA. “We’re proud of our members and their events – and excited to recognize them in this way each year.”

 The City Of West Palm Beach Community Events earned the following SUNsational Awards in the Under $50,000 category:

  • Community Events - Outdoor Ad Installation - 1st Place

And the following in the $50,000 - $250,000 category:

  • Clematis by Night - T-Shirt – 1st Place 
  • Sandi Land Holiday in Paradise - Television Ad – 1st Place
  • Sandi Land Holiday in Paradise – Outdoor Ad Installation – 2nd Place 
  • Sandi Land Holiday in Paradise – Sponsor Program – 1st Place 
  • Sandi Land Holiday in Paradise – Promotional Item – 1st Place 
  • Sandi Land Holiday in Paradise – T-shirt – 2nd Place 
  • Summer in Paradise – Photo – 2nd Place 
  • Summer in Paradise – Multi Agency Collaborative Program – 1st Place 
  • Summer in Paradise – Outdoor Ad Installation – 1st Place 
  • Summer in Paradise – Program/Event Guide/Brochure – 2nd Place 
  • West Palm Beach GreenMarket – Education Program – 1st Place 
  • West Palm Beach GreenMarket – Promotional Poster – 1st Place 
  • West Palm Beach GreenMarket – Radio Ad – 3rd Place  

The West Palm Beach Community Redevelopment Agency earned the following SUNsational Awards in the Under $50,000 category:

  • BBQ, Brews & Blues – Photo – 1st Place 
  • BBQ, Brews & Blues – Radio Ad – 1st Place 
  • Bourbon and Bowties – Promotional Mailer – 2nd Place 

 And the following in the $50,000 - $250,000 category:

  • Sunset Lounge Old School Series – Radio Ad – 2nd Place
