Save the Date….and the World’s Animals
PALM BEACH, FL – February 12, 2018 – Animals enrich our planet and our lives, and we have a moral obligation to protect and preserve the remarkable and endangered creatures with whom we share the Earth. On February 21, at 6:00 pm, local animal lovers can meet some of the world’s most amazing, beautiful, and interesting species, and join an international effort by American Humane to help protect millions of rare and threatened creatures – all while sipping cocktails to the music of hit singer Taylor Dayne and the Alex Donner Trio at The Colony Hotel.

Amid a menagerie of penguins, eagles, sloths and other fascinating animals, American Humane President and CEO Dr. Robin Ganzert and top wildlife experts will outline what the organization is doing to ensure the humane conservation of such beautiful animals around the world. A new national television PSA with famed wildlife conservationist Jeff Corwin supporting American Humane’s work in this area will be screened, and a new series of inspiring, free and educational books focused on animal conservation will be unveiled to reach elementary, middle and high school students across the country. All these efforts are designed to cultivate a new generation of animal lovers dedicated to preserving the rich web of life on Earth.

Thanks to the leadership of philanthropist Jocelyn Javits, who put together a local Junior Host Committee to support critically needed conservation efforts, several young members of that next generation will be honored at the event.

“The world’s animals are facing what scientists are calling a ‘Sixth Mass Extinction’ with two-thirds of all wildlife disappearing by the next decade,” said Dr. Ganzert. “These beautiful creatures’ greatest hope for survival lies in our ability to protect remarkable and endangered animals, and inspire a passion in today’s young people for humane conservation.”

American Humane’s “Cocktails for Conservation” event takes place February 21 at The Colony Hotel, 155 Hammon Avenue in Palm Beach. Tickets are $250 each (children are free of charge if accompanied by an adult) and may be purchased by contacting Mari Harner at marih@americanhumane.org or (561) 537-5887.
